The Mags

Hi Gals how are you faring today through the day? I hope everyone is doing great, the hot gonna kill me some of these days "giggle".

Well by now you surely are wondering on the title, well the title is as simple as it, i have made several covers in Rachel Haven for some people and i wanted to post over here, each one will have it's own explanation if you care to read over it...

The Program used to achieve these "pieces of art" is Quark a program used to create your everyday life magazines, magazines covers, newspaper, books and books covers or anything you can try to do with a mix of Word, Comic Life, Photoshop and a good imagination...

You can check it out in here : http://www.quark.com/Products/QuarkXPress/

1. The Marquis Mag (For Nadine) (http://nadine-teasingmarquise.blogspot.com)

Nadine is a naughty girl when she want to be one...

Ok pretty right?, let's go then onto the explanation...

The first thing you should about this one is that is what made as a first huge effort on myself to come up with something different, so working around Quark and looking out for something silly to try i got the idea to make this mag, which would be the first of many after getting so many good feedback...

Using these three images over a blank text in an A4 form i created this one...

Simple, well not that simple, first you have to select a pic box from the tools at your disposal where the pics will go, and before that you have to find bigger images, not "bigger", monster size ones with a high resolution, so that leave you with the finding becoming a bit hard...
After that the first explosion pic in sepia colour would be the background, so by now we have the body of the cap great...

Now let's look for a bit of sexy text in there, so we select the box text, there are four box texts in there; one for the title, two for descriptions and the last one to catch you interest on it.
Now you can even select the colour of the texts boxes, so we have the one near the blonde gal with a black colour, then we have the option to make it dissapear the box and leave a cool effect of transparency, like in photoshop but easier so we degradate the colour box to 0% with the intensity and opacity set to 0% if you want the box to completely dissapear or you can play around with those parameters until the text is redeable and the box gets the desired effect...

So now that we created that cap on Quark what do we have to do, export it using a PDF file as an export option...

Uhmmm still too big... this one was around 20 mb worth of space due to sizing of the images.

So we have to look for a way to export this one into a tiny size, well let's print it...

So print it? that would leave you with the cap in your hands, no, no, wait, don't rush over it yet...

The program i used to convert this file into a jpeg file was the Universal  Document Converter, that let's you print a PDF in a jpeg document, but it's not as easily as that, no.

We go to properties in the print menu of the PDF program there selecting that offline print we can configure the size of the jpeg and the quality so my parameters to fit it into a JPEG were these ones.

Paper size: Custom

Width: 850

Height: 850

Units: mm

Resolution : 70 x 70 ppp

So now we are good to print, now that we have the file with a relative size around the 500 or 900 kbs (but the height and the size of the Jpg will be insanely huge, but don't worry there something yet to be done in tere)

We go to Comic Life...

We select page format, then custom size

Width: 651

Height: 900

Portrait

So now that the page has been resized we select a pic box from the right and expand it all over the possible size, once that's done we go and select our pic already created from before and put it inside the box...

Surely you will need to strecht the pic a little, but no prob remember you have an insanely huge pic so you won't lose quality...

Now we go to the export and we put our cap in a place we will remember and that it's nothing special, finished in like 40 min...
But the proffesional style is incredible.

2. Haven Gossip's Mag (For Ashley)

The Haven official gossiper...

Practically the same as before but with different pics...

3. Petra's Undercover Mag (For Playin Petra) (http://playfulpetra.tumblr.com/)

Pea wants you to get into her funny side...

So what's so different to stop on this one, here it's come the great use Quark has to fit with other programs around...

Surely you will notice there are some spots here and there from the cropping in PSP...

No worries about that, when you put a pic inside a box in Quark you can select the level of shadow you want to put in there, so if you black out the area around the pic, there you go, proffesional look again ^.^

4.  The Trickster Mag (For Simone) (http://misstresssimone.blogspot.com/)

Simone cannot look better in this pic made by me ^-^...

Okay let me stop again on this one, you know by now that the level of complexity you can add to a cap can vary, well this one gained it own level "giggle"

So the original pics where these ones:

And the photoshopped were these ones:

So okay for this one nothing fancy, click and click and you got the black and white background on the pic...
The other one well let's say it's not that easily done, first i had to crop the scenario and forfeit the beauty from being in there, so now that we have a blank space let's play with the lightning but wait why her dress is pink and her lips are purple... more photoshop and two hours worth of work ahead...
I selected little by little with the lasso the parts i want to recolour and so with trial and error i managed to end up doing that, then to avoid the visible errors played with the lightning and made the woman a bit more dark and the contrast a bit more light...

So hey why is the woman looking to the other side? how did you do that?...

Easy questions, there is an option in Quark that let you do that, so you can select the pic to look to the left or to the right other than that it's pretty much the same as before ^.^

5.  The Perilous Quest of Jennifer Mag (For Jennifer) (http://jenniferstgcaps.blogspot.com)

Jennifer has a naughty side, that she wants you to explore...

So okay what's so special about this one... Exactly the pics inside the text, how you accomplish that?, let's take a look onto it...

First you select a text box, put the text and then there is an option on Quark that let's you transform the text into an image, like the ones you see in commercials on your nearby cinema on the posters, yep that rights this how they do it ^o^

So you see you select the desired pic with an insert it directly into the text form pic, then you scroll the pic to the desired location inside until you get the right effect ^.^

And pretty much the same as before, it's look easy but it's not believe me it will take you several months to achieve that level...

6.  Ask Dee Mag (For Dee)  (http://deelusionsofgrandeur.blogspot.com/)

The Knowledgeable Dee...

Okay this one was trickier to do and for that get it's own wordy explanation "giggle"

In an effort to please Dee with my mags getting her very own, I made this one and just in case she is still wondering about this one, well it came as inspiration on her section off Ask me i shall respond your question (Pretty much used a lot of times by me sooooo "giggle", but it's doesn't matter)

Here it comes the pics used for this one...

Already recognizing someone in there yes, i used the other pic and cropped it, but wait that it's half the face, why there is a complete one?

Easy took the pic two times and reffited inside the mirror pic used as a background, and made them close together like a single face using the already mentioned method of putting the pic looking to the left or to the right...

But that didn't bring the desired effect at first so i had to black out again the face of the girl with a transparency trick and using PSP to put a simple bar, yet unnoticeable if you don't know where to look and not telling you about it "giggle"
Then came back to Quark and used the already method to export it to PDF and so on...

I hope you have enjoyed my somewhat accurate explanation on how they are done...

If you have any question, feel free to ask, i'll try my best to answer it  ^^

So maybe i will make this sort of post some other time as soon as i get to make more mags, so until then enjoy those ^^

I will accept any suggestions to make new caps, only condition is that you cannot change the spirit of this blog, as long as is related to leather, dom, sub, a little of bondage, strapon play, transformation, latex, rubber, pvc, lingerie, gloves, bimbo, naked bodies, emo girls, high heels, maids, possessions, strippers endings, sci-fi, anime, cute and funny caps(not everything have to be about sex :3) and not extreme (scat, any weird sceneplay, smoking, humilliaton, forced rape, petting (strapon girl doing a boy), cum-shotta(bukkake) lets hold this place nice and clean ok :3 etc) no shemales either ^-^  i will make caps for anyone accepting this...
No more than two caps request from requester thanks.  : 3

  1. Alectra,

Thanks for the write up. Its interesting seeing the programs that everyone uses as their primary creative tool. I played with Quark a few times, but it was many years (and I'm sure many versions) ago.

But I recall it having some great layout options.

The one thing I saw that might help, is since you have Photoshop, you may (MAY!) be able to open the PDF right into photoshop. There you can resize it, and save it as a jpg all in one fell swoop.

    Oh, and nice mags!

And Sedra i do enjoy working around with new things...

P.S: Caitlyn forgot to say that this one is the Quark Express 7.1 Version, I think it's a good version as it mostly used here in Spain by the technical editors and the mags creators, right now this version is coming to the 9 and preparing the 10 Version, but there is an abysmal difference between mine and those ^-^'

  4. I really enjoyed seeing the stuff that went into it, and you nailed the pics for my Mag. For one, it's ME! (Mila) And that girl with the blue eye's, mmm. I love the focus on the eyes, they are always the first thing I notice and usually what attracts me to a pretty girl.
