From Dark to Bright (short stories too)

Howdy people, just keeping you inform that next week possibly I'll start to update the blog again. But mostly to inform you that the universe has a way to keep you entertained, well the last post turned out to be a pain to write while this one will be a sweet one.

First I gained back my scholarship, due to an error on my university and the administration I've demonstrated to them that I was right they were wrong! (Insert FF fanfare song)

Second my father is out of danger and kicking, in a few weeks (or months) he will hospitalized for a surgical intervetion. Nothing too dangerous, just replacing a "spring" in the heart (I don't know the technical name for that sorry!) and checking on it. Just a non invasive intervention really.

Third, while I may - they could have - screwed up my studies and have to do exams in september, I have obtained the opportunity to start doing by then, business practices for a graphic designer work. So yes that's means this summer will be filled starting next week with a training course in Photoshop, In - Design and Illustrator. Let's keep finger crossed.

So thank you for the people that left me messages of good will the last post. It's funny how the last month was a ride to the dark and now I'm starting to see the bright light of day.

Here are some short stories, which may or may not become full stories. I'm a bit rusty right now!

Pizzicato for Strings

Hey gals, how are you doing?


Today I bring you a cap, that I was experimenting with, so you tell me at the end which one you like :)


Recently I downloaded a pack of fonts, to make it more visually appealing the reading, and talking about that... I think I would love someone who would endure my writings, to proofread them... I know maybe it just much too ask, but anyway I try to make for a better reading with each one!.


Here I present you the original cap:

So well the usual from me in a non-creative day, apart from the new fonts. Which I'm still experimenting nothing new.


And then while listening to this kind of old music. I mean the pizzicato for strings, It's a thing you won't hear over modern music (unless you go for jazz or electronic music that's it!). Its a technique that consist of plucking the strings from a string instrument. Little by little making squeaking sounds or that depends of the tempo and it produces a timbre that is called inharmonicity because the sound doesn't belong to harmonic series and after the string is bowed it returns quickly to the harmonic ratio. Producing a marvelous sound. It's a cool technique that you won't hear it unless you are listening to Johann Strauss or Bach or the above said :)


To the topic. When I found that well, the woman is playing the instrument, she is also talking about using that instrument to enthrall someone... so maybe the violin should appear it behind. 

And I said... well why not the notes? Yes that's my head working. The only thing that I don't like about this, is that maybe would make a bit for a hard reading... nonetheless, it's perfect, because she could be talking about an ancient score an the paper does demonstrate it!.

Anyway this was my other choice.

And finally, the one I like the most, you have the musical score a bit more obscure to make for a better readibilty and the strings from the violin used to accompany the title.

I think this is the first time that I encountered I could do a bit more of work behind the scenes for the cap. Have you ever encountered if you are a captioner, such a dilemma? Or if you are not a captioner... do you care about it, or just go for the story?

Hey there gals I wish you a Feliz Año Nuevo 2012 for everyone out there, I have something more prepared, but that will have to wait for the new year until then enjoy this little funny song I twisted ^^


Also I want to thanks all my friends for being so supportive of me and dealing with me everyday... well not exactly everyday but you get the idea *giggle*

For those that know me already, know that I'm a singer... not sure if an accomplished one but I try in my opera's and chorus business *giggle* So if anyone wants me to try and twist a song, I'm here to try... I try to bring good results, so don't worry!

Now singing a soul song... how cool is that? *giggle* The second would be a normal one, responding like a second voice of chorus. It's supposed to be the male changing while singing, but you get the idea *giggle*

Chant of the Wicked Witch

Hi gals today there is no TG cap but, as we keep with the Halloween theme... I thought of this nice poem or chant if you prefer it. Surely you know a bit about witches and their covens in the forest. Well this one was a bit inspired on it.

P.S: In order to make the rhyme better Asera (Isthar) is changed in the cap for Sera ^-^
Also Mara is the god of drestruction in budism but used as female persona in here. Merva is Minerva, doesn't matter how you call it both forms are accepted. Lazy greeks! Beth refers to the calendar of the celtics. Which also refers to the White goddess(therefore you can identify the girl from the cap as said one if you want, a kind of Avatar), but as the wickans believed in the act of sex as a pure act... Well I think I gave you enough lessons about gods and goddesses... *giggle*

100th! Post (Cap Galore)

Howdy gals! I know I took sooooooo much long to post something over here but, life comes first and I have a little surprise for you all. Yes you can guess from the title of the post but beware a long reading awaits you ahead.

Now that I reached my 100th post I decided to make it worthy of being the 100 duh! And congratulate every friend I made over the year since I started captioning. At first I was but a joke of a captioneer (Can say it over to me because I consider that to be true "giggle") and I think that is thanks to those people who will get mentioned in here (at least most of them) that I improved over the next few things:

1- English: Of course that was the main purpose of writing everything in English, just for improving it or knowing more stuff about grammar and such. ^-^

2- Cap making: It was at first an alien concept to me since the last year, sure I've seen many caps but not that many and of course not as good as I've seen over at the Haven.

3- Making friends worldwide: The Haven is the greatest community of all to make a friendship and of course the Internet is so populated with trolls, noobzs, flamers’, bad people overall, etc. That encountering such a friendly community was a great over the top finding for me.

4- For the fun: Just for the fun of it I created and indulged in myself creating Alectra which is the reason this very blog exist... So thanks again for that ^-^

5- Improving my literature skills: Pretty much like cap making but there is so much of the process of creating an impressive or at least a decent story from time to time that you wouldn't believe how much of the real life this take from you sometimes.

With that said I think I clearly made the point that I owe a lot to Rachel for creating that community and making it grow over the years. So I think I'll create some other time a special cap for here over here. Hey after the Mistress of the Haven deserves some space "giggle".

Another reason is to create single caps and try to come up with the right words without crumpling the story or making excessively long or adding borings parts to flow the story. Of course that doesn't mean I won't create more long stories but It have turned out in a hell of a long post and I don't think a post support that many images "giggle"

Hi gals, after my long rambling from yesterday I came to the conclusion that I can offer something different that other may find impossible or hard to do...


Music Caps!


In real life I'm an "accomplished" Opera Singer...Yeah even being such a baby I can nail opera songs "giggle"


In the tenor range ^-^ (Weeeeeeell still in practice till I reach 30 years old!)


Now if you are looking for my other persona, she would fall into the mezzosoprano voice

Most of the time the voice of Alectra tends to be seductive and low, but, she can rise as nice to the sensual and beautifully crafted high pitched voice


Now this has an actual explanation...


Due to the kind of personality she has she would nicely fall into that category.


For a few examples looking into the psychological ground of the voice (This doesn't have to fall into you, this is just an example as psychiatrists measures the "coloratura" of the voice accompanied with a mental background)


High pitched voices says that you are childish. naive, with a huge ego (know tenors "giggle" it would be impossible for them to reach the higher notes if not for their bravado will hitting that scale...Indecisive peeps won't reach the key note no matter how high pitched is their voice); Dark voices says that you are serious, rational, decisive, thoughtful. And a mix between the two says that you are mysterious, playful, hard to grasp. ^-^


So I'm introducing you to a new world that I hope you'll fancy just like me ^-^


You can either enjoy the cap as it's or maybe read what I'm about to write for a better understanding and therefore a better enjoyment of it ^-^

1. Dee : In The Hall of the Mountain Queen


Now this one comes from the inmortal sonata of Edvard Grieg Peer Gynt Suite Nº1 and this one as the name suggest is In The Hall of The Mountain King.


Maybe you don't know the name nor the composition, but, I'm sure you had heard of it ^-^


What makes this one so special and magical is the incredible work that put Edvard Grieg while making it, you can grow a love for the wind department in here (either metal or wood).  Oboes along with trombones make a fantastic duet and So the Violins makes a terrific ending to it. While the first announce your entry as if you were slowly walking into the hall growing an increasing need to careful watch around the intricate and beautifully crafted sounds inside the hall.  The second announces a terrific ending and ocasionally the strings that make you take little steps before running into a perfect rush to the end make it a delight to your ears;


What you will notice in here is that as being a classic composition there's no lyrics, thats where I enter ^-^


I know music and I can totally fit words, breaking sentences and make it almost perfectly to sing along with the composition...


I tried this many times but until recently got the idea to use that knowlegde to fit into a cap ^-^

2. Alleria: Sexy song by Alleria


What so special about this one?, well the title alone don't suggest anything because the first part is just a mix of sentences from other songs not needed to tell you about those one...


What's important in here is the second part, I came with a mischievous idea, so while my friend Alleria is another singer this came rightfully appreciated...


She is practising and his boyfriend wants to peek a little, so she discover that he is actually peeping tom her and so she start to sing this song.


The song itself is a classic, Scarborough Fair

Made famous in the entire world by Simon and Garfunkel in a classic pop song style but, the classical one offers a lot more ^-^


As twisted as the other one, this one needs a little of preparation because there's already a lyric done for it. Changed to fit the times as you know it because there is an old version of it when the people of England would go with a brilliant and shiny armour "giggle"

The purpose of the song as is what originally intended was about a woman who offered his lover an impossible task to complete but in the end love is stronger than ever and his lover get to accomplish the impossible task. Note that if you hear the song, those tasks comes into the myths terrain, so it would be actually impossible to do it for real "giggle"


So with that in mind, the next part turns out to be tricky. Note that I'm not British but I do have some knowlegde of old poetry so that part was somewhat covered in the song. Again to make it flow right this time you need to find words that are somewhat stylish and good to hear and sing, so this one took me like three hours or so to create the lyrics and make sense of top of that heh heh heh.

I may revisit this kind of post as soon as I get another song to twist around, whether classical, pop or a composition... It doesn't matter I know how to stretch the sounds to blend right and make it actually doable ^-^
